Fremont Release Mugshot Records

A booking photo is tied to an arrest or custody event. In Fremont County, the photo may be part of a sheriff booking record, a CRIMEWATCH public post, a CDOC offender profile, a court-related press item, or a records response. The photo should be read with the record that created it. A person can be photographed at booking and later released on bond, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, transfer, or another order.

Colorado criminal-justice records are governed by the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act and related open-records rules. The Fremont Sheriff's Records Division says records and copies of reports are released under CCJRA and CORA, but records can be unavailable, active, incomplete, under investigation, in a judicial proceeding, protected, redacted, sealed, or restricted. That means no public page should be treated as a complete mugshot archive.

Fremont Mugshot Source Channels

Fremont County does not publish a dedicated release-mugshot gallery in the official sources reviewed. The most visible local photo channel is the Sheriff's CRIMEWATCH Arrests / Jail Intakes stream. It can show image thumbnails or placeholders, dates, names, charge or warrant wording, and narratives. Some narratives may state that the person was released on personal-recognizance bond, but the page remains an arrest and intake post stream rather than a full release roster.

The official Fremont Sheriff Arrests / Jail Intakes stream is the local public-post source for many images and narratives.

Because the stream is organized by public post, not by release date, it should be paired with VINE, Intake/Booking, court records, or a records request when custody status is the point.

Fremont CRIMEWATCH Photos

The Fremont Sheriff's public web platform is CRIMEWATCH. Sheriff pages invite users to download the CRIMEWATCH app and follow the Fremont County Sheriff's Office. That matters for booking photos because the app and website may surface the same public arrest or jail-intake posts, including a photo or image placeholder. The app should not be described as a verified release list unless a live app screen actually shows that feature.

When a CRIMEWATCH post includes release-on-PR-bond wording, the photo and the release statement both come from the post. Still, the post is not a complete release packet. It may not include booking number, formal release time, release reason, or later court disposition. Request Fremont Booking Photos

If a photo is not public on an official CRIMEWATCH post, the formal local route is the Fremont Sheriff's Records Division. The request should be precise and purpose-neutral. Identify the person, known aliases, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, arresting agency, case number, charge, release date if known, and the record requested. Ask for the booking photograph or booking record tied to the specific booking.

1. Download or pick up the sheriff records request form.
2. Describe the booking photo or booking record with enough detail for records staff to identify it.
3. Sign the request and include a copy of a state ID or driver's license.
4. Submit by email, fax, mail, or in person to the Sheriff's Records Division.
5. Wait for records staff to confirm receipt, fees, or extra detail needed.
6. Pay required fees before records are released, unless the Records Custodian makes other arrangements.

Records may be redacted or denied when the matter is active, protected, juvenile, sealed, restricted, incomplete, or under court limits.

CDOC And BOP Photos

State-prison booking and profile photos are not Fremont County jail mugshots. If the person was released from Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility, Arrowhead, Centennial, Colorado State Penitentiary, Fremont Correctional Facility, Four Mile, or a CDOC facility tied to the Canon City area, use CDOC. A CDOC offender profile may include identifying information, facility history, custody status, parole data, and a photo when available. That record belongs to CDOC.

Federal custody is different. BOP's public inmate locator generally does not provide booking photos. For FCC Florence questions, use BOP's locator for custody and release-date status, then use BOP records, federal court records, or official press releases for photo context where applicable. Do not expect the federal locator to work like a county mugshot roster.

Fremont Mugshot Removal Limits

Sealing, expungement, and court restrictions can change what the public can see. If a case has been sealed or restricted, the sheriff or court custodian may redact or deny parts of a booking record. Public court access is governed by Colorado Judicial Branch rules and case-specific orders. A records custodian, not a search page, decides whether a particular official photo can be released.

Colorado also has an anti-pay-to-remove mugshot law. The National Conference of State Legislatures summary of House Bill 14-1407 says certain commercial websites that charge a fee to remove mugshots or identifying information must remove information for free if the person was found innocent of the crime for which they were arrested. That protection should be read narrowly. It does not erase official sheriff, court, CDOC, or news records, and it does not guarantee that every copied image disappears.

Verify Fremont Photo Context

A mugshot can be easy to misread. It may show an arrest that did not lead to conviction. It may predate a release, dismissal, transfer, sentence, or sealing order. It may also be copied without later updates. The safest Fremont County workflow is to pair any image with the sheriff post, sheriff records response, court docket, CDOC profile, or BOP record that explains custody status.

That source pairing is especially important in Fremont County because the same county name can point to a county jail booking, a CDOC prison profile, or a federal institution near Florence. The image source should match the custody source. A sheriff booking photo does not prove a state-prison discharge, and a CDOC profile photo does not prove a Fremont County Detention Center release.

If the image source and custody source do not match, pause before drawing any conclusion. The records custodian can confirm which event the photo belongs to.
